Finding Realistic Airfares
Sunday May 14, 2006
It's easy to find information about airfare deals. But are travelers actually paying those low prices? It's time to cut away the hype and find out what your next trip will really cost. A new Internet tool gives you access to the lowest and most popular airfare searches for your home airport.

I was registering at a hotel at $55/night through Orbitz. I noticed a form from another person who was paying $35/night through Priceline.
Be both paid too much.
I have noticed “bucket shop” agencies for international tickets, advertised in local student or “free” news- papers, offer far better prices than any online vendors..telephone “shopping” yields lower prices than website offerings, in many cases..calling or faxing a hotel directly sometimes gets a lower price quote than the 800#…
To be honest the price of flights over here, particularly from (or within) Canada disgusts me. In Europe people can book flights halfway around the world for a very low fare, here even within the country or to a close U.S. destination it costs almost as much or as much as flying to Europe and back. Why are fares so high? They keep blaming it on “high fuel prices”, “airport taxes” etc, but the truth must lie somewhere else. Compared to European prices, the airlines here must be raking in a huge profit (no matter what anyone says). Perhaps there’s just not enough competition, who knows. At any rate, I hope I soon see the day when we can get flights here as cheaply as they can in many parts of Europe.
