As travelers begin to book summer trips to Paris, they must realize that these can be the highest prices you'll pay to visit the French capital. This time of year, more than any other, you need to find ways to save. Here are some tips for navigating this gorgeous city without breaking the budget.

Paris is my favorite place on earth, and my number one suggestion to anyone is WALK! Walk until your feet fall off. The best walks of all are guided tours from a company called PARIS WALKS. Their website is being remodeled right now, but every hotel lobby has their brochure so its easy to find them once you’re in Paris. For 10 euros you can enjoy a 2 to 3 hour walk led by a guide who is not only filled with all the usual facts, but who also can tell you many fascinating stories you’d never hear otherwise. Definitely worth the price!

I’ve often wondered about these walking tours…if they become crowded, I would think the experience would suffer quite a bit. Do they put limits on the number of people who go with each guide? Do you tip the guide in addition to the fee?
I agree completely that Paris (like most European cities) is great for walking. It’s fun to “get lost” in those streets near Notre Dame where they sell fresh produce in summer.
