Trade your guidebook for an iPod?

Saturday December 23, 2006
Guidebooks can be handy money-savers on a budget trip, but so too can your everyday iPod, according to iJourneys Tours, a company that specializes in travel information for Europe-bound travelers. For $14.95 USD, you download travelogues in mp3 format, then simply follow the walking-tour instructions for the city of your choice. Current cities include Rome, Venice, Florence, Pompeii, Salzburg, Vienna, Paris and Barcelona. Ever tried this service, or something similar? If so, feel free to post your thoughts.

We did even better, downloaded free Rick Steve mp3s for a Thanksgiving trip to Paris. The tours of the Louvre and Musee D’Orsay saved us tons of time and the walking tours were great.
