And the Hoscar goes to...

It's not a typo: The Web site Hostelworld.com sponsors an annual "Hoscar" competition patterned after the Oscars that honor motion pictures. The idea, naturally, is to honor hostels in a number of categories. It's the sixth annual event, and it looks back at conditions in 2007. Seven of the top 10 overall are in Europe, and the only North American hostel to crack the top 10 was Clarence Castle in Toronto (#3). Best overall? Flamingo Hostel in Krakow, Poland.
