How does $3.69/gallon gas affect your summer plans?

Sunday May 4, 2008
With gas prices per gallon moving closer to $4 USD in the U.S., you might think scores of people would be revising their summer vacation plans. But according to an AOL Travel/Zogby International survey, 69 percent of Americans will not alter their travel plans because of high fuel prices. Nearly the same percentage -- 66 percent -- say they'll stay in the U.S. this summer. Of those traveling internationally, only 10 percent plan to visit Europe. Photo by Justin Sullivan/Getty Images.

POLL:  What about you? Do high fuel prices affect your plans for car travel or air travel this summer?

1) Absolutely. I'm staying home.
2) Quite a bit. I'm staying closer to home than usual.
3) Somewhat. I'm scaling back earlier plans a bit.
4) Not really. We'll cut back on other expenses.
5) Not at all. Life is too short to let that stop me.

No change in our plans. We’ll still make trips of 1000 miles or more to see kids and enjoy the country.

Trip to Greece in Sept. will not be cancelled. Relatively small incremental cost of a slightly worse exchange rate would be a foolish reason to cancel or postpone a major trip.

So happy people can afford 1000 mile or greater trips by car and trips to Greece where the exchange rate is no problem. It is a problem for me and I’m sure millions more…..

I’m an American living abroad. $3.69 a gallon is about half the price as the country where I live, so I will not notice much. The consumers that complain so much should demand better public transport, alternative energy, or use alternate ways to commute such as scooters or bicycles.

I still remember last time I was in the States when gas was $2.50 per gallon and people would complain while holding a 20 ounce bottle of water that cost $1.25. Do the math people; You are paying much more for a bottle of water than you are for gas.

We are a nation of rich sheep.
none of the suppossed high gas prices will be affecting 59 percent . Unless and untill prices reach what they are in europe . till then the sky is the limit in as far as gas prices go.
