A Budget Airline Review: Easyjet
Sunday May 18, 2008
The growth in budget airline choices is one of the most exciting travel developments of the past decade. But some travelers say the discounts require too much sacrifice. Here's an account of two one-way trips I made on one of the leading budget carriers. Your experience might be far different, depending upon factors such as luggage weight and meal preference, but I found no significant sacrifices and far better prices than were available on the same routes with other carriers.

Hi, Mark! I love your site and have found many valuable tips for my travelling. Now when using a ling “Cheap Fligts” I wonder once again, why you don’t know anything about RYANAIR i U.S.A.?
It’s a very big Irish air company in Europe. In a year I have used them 12 times for almost no money, from Gothenburg to Marseille (France), Stansted (UK) and Cork (Ireland). Return flight from Gothenburg (Sweden)GSE Saeve to London (UK) Stansted costs about 50 US Dollars, with SAS and other “big” ones here take about 400 USD. Ryanair has hundreds of new airplanes, nice personnel and they are in time. Luggage as all 25 kg and snacks available to buy onboard. When I tried a link on your site, it gave me a price of 628 USD between Gothenburg and London. It’s over 10 times as much as Ryanair takes, if you order in advance.
I understand that your site is more for Americans than for us Swedish and Finnish, but even you might travel in Scandinavia. Have a nice day and thanks for your interesting site! Anneli
Hi Mark
I think this was a very fair and balanced review. Whilst there are sometimes delays due to the tight scheduling and turnarounds, they are rarely major. Most of the staff seem to be happier and more helpful in the less formal environment easyjet have compared to the ‘big’ airlines and so as a passenger my experiences of travelling with them have usually been positive ones.

Russell
Hi Mark!
I agree with your review.
Last year I flew VUELING (MAD-LIS $44; LIS-BCN $46), RYANAIR (SVQ-LON $50) and EASYJET (LON-MAD $88), and all of them work in a more than acceptable way.
They do charge you a lot if have overweight (which you are not expected to carry if you choose this airlines), but I didnīt found delays, and they treat me in a very kind way.
Regards
Anneli, I am familiar with Ryan Air…and as you say, it is well worth checking if you’re planning to fly in Europe. I haven’t reviewed them because I have no first-hand experience with Ryan. If you’ve flown both airlines, how do they compare?
