The U.S. Dollar Makes a Comeback
Sunday August 24, 2008
At the beginning of June, I wrote about the six-year plunge of the U.S. Dollar when exchanged for the Euro, The British Pound and the Canadian Dollar. Since that post, there is some encouraging news for Americans: It appears a rebound is underway. Since June 1, the USD has gained five cents against the Canadian Dollar, eight cents against the Euro and a whopping 14 cents against the British Pound. The rates are still unfavorable for Americans when compared to six years ago. But the trend, at least for now, appears to be a strengthening Dollar and some falling prices for London hotel rooms, Paris dining or a long weekend in Toronto.
