Fight Price Gouging

Friday September 12, 2008
In wake of Hurricane Ike, I've been hearing from people concerned about an "Ike Spike" in gasoline prices and possible shortages at the pump. Have prices risen sharply in your area? Panic buying actually drives prices upward. Do you feel as if you are being gouged at the pump? We can't complain too much if market forces push prices upward again in this situation, but huge and sudden jumps of a dollar per gallon are not natural market forces, they are price gouging. Follow links in this article on price gouging to your state's attorney general or other government watchdog agencies. Better yet, remember the people who gouged consumers in this situation and refuse to do business with them in the future.
