One travel expert proclaimed this week that 2010 will be the "year of the travel bargain." While I certainly hope he is correct in that prediction, many of us find bargains in any year must be searched out and related to our own travel plans and budgets. Such is the case with rail passes in Europe. Sometimes they provide significant savings, while at other times they can wind up costing more money than point-to-point tickets.
