Should I have a credit card?

This first question is not meant to appear condescending or insulting. In fact, an honest answer to this question is important before you continue the process of choosing a travel reward credit card. Many people overextend themselves financially by misusing credit cards. If you are not paying off the balance each pay period, you are borrowing money at some of the highest interest rates allowable by law. To extend your debt simply to earn some travel rewards is poor financial management. But if you are paying off the balance almost every month and simply use the cards as "plastic money," it makes sense to collect the awards available to you. For that reason, be less concerned about the interest rates for these cards (they tend to be high) and direct more attention to your financial practices before advancing to the next step.
