Finding Realistic Airfares
Other Tools for Finding Fares

By Mark Kahler, About.com

Internet Airfares is a service of Cincinnati-based Destinations Unlimited, a travel agency that specializes in finding low airfares. Provided here is a list of 42 major North American airports. You click on the airport(s) closest to you, and it displays the most recent low fares from that city to the other destinations.

BiddingForTravel.com is a service that allows Priceline bidders to know what others have actually paid for a given airfare or other travel product. Again, these are not advertised rates. They are self-reported prices from the personal checkbooks of travelers across the world. The only margin for error is the honesty and accuracy of those doing the reporting. In the vast majority of cases, it appears the reports are truthful.

Many budget travelers tend to be leery of the latest fancy Internet tools. In truth, Buzz might not find you a better fare than the more traditional search engines.

It does provide another way for you to peer into the confusing, intimidating world of airfares. When it's time to plan the next vacation or business outing, you'll have one more departure point from the hype.
