Avoiding Hotel Room No-Nos

It's probably not news to most readers that room service comes at a hefty price. That $10 sandwich will probably cost $20 or more when someone delivers it to your room. But the room service menu isn't the only place where you'll overpay. Many hotels add a 15-18 percent gratuity to the base room service charge. If you leave a tip on top of that fee, you've spent too much. Sometimes there's even a clean-up fee if you leave dishes in the room rather than putting them outside your door. One room service meal won't break your budget, but if it becomes a habit, the costs and associated fees might add up quickly.
