New Approaches to Saving Money

By , About.com Guide

"Branding" is the buzz word of the decade in the business world.

Everyone is trying to establish his or her business, destination, or service as genuinely unique. It's a good strategy to separate yourself from the masses.

The sheer volume of advertising messages can be numbing. That's why it's refreshing when someone finds an underserved niche and creates a new approach.

What follows is a tribute to some recent offers in the budget travel world that are both practical and eye-catching. Check them out and see which ones might help improve your travel prospects this season.

Take the Grandkids, Leave the Parents

Apple Core Hotels is a group of five Manhattan properties that sees a market in grandparents who want to take their grandchildren on vacation. They've developed a $139 nightly room rate that also includes Continental breakfasts, four tickets to board the Circle Line-Statue of Liberty Ferry and admission to the Ellis Island Immigration Museum and the Statue of Liberty.

The offer is good from July 1-31, and children 13 and under stay in their grandparents' room free of charge.

We've all heard the term "family friendly," but give these folks some credit for becoming "grandparent friendly."
