Finding Excursions From Las Vegas
Grand Canyon Vacation Tips Mark Kahler, licensed to About.com
When you visit Las Vegas on a budget, you will see plenty of tour operators offering trips to the Grand Canyon. You'll also hear that it's possible to complete a visit to the Grand Canyon in a day-trip from Las Vegas. Be skeptical as you approach both of these concepts. The tours from Las Vegas are sometimes overpriced. The Las Vegas-based helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon usually start at about $250/person, but they do afford some time at your destination and you're likely to get some spectacular pictures. By contrast, if you go on a bus tour or drive your own vehicle, keep in mind it is nearly a 600-mile round trip. That's a lot of driving in one day for relatively little time at the canyon. It might be possible, but it's definitely not the best way to go.
