These seasonal deals usually come with strings attached and fairly short deadlines. If you see something you like, be sure to do two things: read the fine print restrictions carefully, and if you're satisfied, book immediately.

We'll start with some summer airfares.

The new Open Skies agreement that went into effect March 30 probably won't have an immediate impact on your summer travel plans, but who knows? We should start seeing trans-Atlantic flights become much more accessible from new airports that don't have "New York" or "Boston" in their names.

Early summer deals across the Atlantic can be found at Aer Lingus, where you can fly from Boston or JFK to Dublin starting at $259 USD one-way. The travel period for these fares ends June 30.

British Airways has discounted one-way fares between JFK and London Heathrow: Economy seats from $339 USD one-way; premium economy from $464. Travel period is from May 26 to Sept. 3.

American is offering special fares to/from Canada. Fares must be booked at least seven days in advance and are valid for travel through June 25. One example: Chicago-Toronto roundtrip for $264 USD

Looking for some good student fares? Check out STA Travel for a long list of great fares originating in North America.

If you're young, or young at heart, you might like to take your bicycle with you this summer. But given the new baggage fees these days, it's not practical, right? EL AL is offering a Flying with Bikes promotion that permits up to 20 extra kilos at no additional charge. Bikes must not be motorized. They must be partially disassembled and encased.

Cathay Pacific's All Asia Pass is not specific to summer travel but a good all-around deal at $1099/person. It affords 21 days of travel to your choice of Asian cities. Other stops not included on the pass can be added for a fee. The pass is good for Monday-Wednesday mid-week long-haul travel only. Price does not include U.S. taxes, fees and security charges.

If your planning stalls or you just want to leave town without much regard to destination, consider the last second deals from Lastminute.com.
