This room is in a one-star property in the Holbrook-Winslow bidding zone. The room cost at the time of my bid was $62.05; The winning bid was $35, to which another $11.29 in taxes and fees were added. The savings for this stay was $15.76. Holbrook is the closest city of any size to the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Parks, so chances are good I would have landed here without Priceline. But there were other budget hotels in this area charging about $40 for a room, so aside from having a reserved place to stay, the benefits of Priceline in this situation were not significant. The hotel did provide a free breakfast, which is not always the case with one-star hotels. It also provided free in-room wireless Internet, but the connection was rather slow.
