Bound for Europe?

If you'd like a free rail day in Britain, take a look at this offer: BritRail Free Day Away gives you the extra day at no charge for BritRail Pass, BritRail England Pass, BritRail Scottish Freedom Pass, BritRail Guest Pass and BritRail England Guest Pass. You must order by June 1. Read the terms carefully.

Beyond the rails, destination passes can help secure a tight travel budget.

In many places you visit, it's possible to purchase city passes that admit you to a large number of attractions for one price. Many times, using the pass just a few times pays for the total cost and gets you great value. You also avoid standing in line for admission.

Go Card USA offers such passes for more than a dozen cities in North America. In Spring, these passes are sometimes discounted.

New York Pass is good for admission to more than 50 attractions for one price. You buy it for one day or a number of days. Most first-time visitors to Manhattan find that the items on the New York Pass list are places they would have paid admission to see even if the pass was not involved in their planning.

In Europe, Paris Pass and a London Pass are worth a look, depending on the length of your planned stay. Again, look for sales prices on these passes at times during the Spring.

If Southern California is in your travel plans, check out a site called CalActive.com. Here you can find passes for San Diego and Southern California, discounts for Universal Studios, and take in some outdoor adventures like whale watching or rock climbing, often at low prices.

Need a one-way car rental in Florida? Avis offers special one-way rates at participating Florida locations. Use the Avis Worldwide Discount number (AWD) G575600 when making the reservation.

If you're willing to take the bus in North America, Greyhound offers one-way fares from New York starting at $12 when purchased at least a week in advance. Prices increase by length of trip.

Amtrak updates a list of weekly specials throughout the Spring. One example: Pontiac, Mich (near Detroit) to Chicago for $22.50 USD. If you find a deal that fits your travel plans, it's best to book immediately, because the offers come and go fairly quickly. More information on train deals
